What Makes These Products Dangerous?

The contamination came to light when FreshRealm, the manufacturer of these HelloFresh meals, discovered that spinach ingredients tested positive for Listeria bacteria and immediately reported their findings to FSIS.[5]

Listeria infections, while relatively rare, can be fatal. The bacteria poses the greatest threat to:

  • Pregnant women and their unborn babies
  • Adults over 65 years old
  • People with weakened immune systems[6]

Fortunately, no confirmed illnesses have been linked to these specific products at this time.[7]

Immediate Action Required

If you receive HelloFresh deliveries, immediately check your refrigerator and freezer for these contaminated meals. Look for the specific product names, establishment numbers, and lot codes listed above.

**If you find these products: Dispose of them immediately. Do not consume them under any circumstances.**[8]

Should you suspect you’ve already consumed one of these contaminated meals, watch carefully for Listeria infection symptoms, which include:[9]

  • High fever
  • Severe muscle aches
  • Persistent headaches
  • Neck stiffness
  • Mental confusion
  • Balance problems
  • Seizures
  • Diarrhea

These symptoms typically appear within two weeks of consuming contaminated food. If you experience any of these warning signs, contact your healthcare provider immediately.[10]
